The first chapter of the success story was written in 1961 in Australia when the founder of Gerry Harvey, along with Ian Norman, in the suburbs of Sydney, opened the first branch office, then focused on the sale of electrical appliances. In 1987, the company was listed on the Australian stock market, which represented a stepping stone for expansion. Today, Harvey Norman has 195 stores in Australia, 31 in New Zealand, 14 in Singapore, 16 in Ireland, 6 in Malaysia, 1 in Croatia, and 5 in Slovenia. Harvey Norman is the largest retailer in the southern hemisphere.
