When C. Schaefer opened his shop on Limmatstrasse 210 in 1889, there were no cars in Zurich. The first motor vehicle bumped in 1898 through the city. This changed after the turn of the century. While others did not want to believe in the success of the motorized companions, Schaefer saw them as having a chance. He stopped trading in home appliances and switched to selling vehicle accessories and electronics. In the following years, Schaefer made a name for itself with everything related to the installation and conversion of electronics in cars. After the emergence of the first car phones in the 1980s, Schaefer AG built them into their customers' vehicles. With the conversion from the analog C network to the D-mobile network, the workshop business moved into the background. Corporate management recognized the potential of mobile phones. Today, C. Schaefer's successor, Rui Correia and his deputy Yves Trinkler, are fully committed to mobile telephony. The close collaboration with Swisscom and Samsung has given rise to Switzerland's largest and most unique telecom specialty store.
